A Very Texas Wedding...In All the Right Ways

 

 

 

 

This past weekend, Jeri, my dad, and brothers, Mark and Christian drove (yes drove) over to Austin, TX to attend my cousin, Lianne's wedding! It was BEAUTIFUL! I'm not usually a fan of Texas themed events, but this was Texas meets class meets Pinterest meets classic. It was WELL worth the 16 hours of car ride to get there and back!

Congrats to the bride and groom. We love you!

Engagement Pictures - Megan and Chris

Happy Monday!

Fact: I am not a professional photographer nor do I think I am
Fact: I do not have a $2000 camera with 4 lenses with which I can take the most amazing pictures

Chris, Megan, and I drove up to Afton Villa Garden in St. Francisville yesterday to take engagement pictures...well...I took their engagement pictures. The three of us are not engaged. You know what I'm trying to say. Either way, I never thought the experience would be so much fun. Half of my morning was spent in tears because I was laughing so hard at either Megan trying to change outfits outside, Chris' goofy faces ruining pictures, or just watching the two of them pick on each other. It was great.

I know these are not professional quality, and Beau is going to need to Photoshop the actual pictures she chooses because of lighting issues, but I think I did a pretty good job. The best part (obviously food related) - Chris and Megan treated me to lunch at The Mag...SO YUM.

Wedding Invite: Judith and John

Beau's long time friend, Judy is getting married, and she asked for our help with the design services, and obviously, we couldn't be happier! We tossed around a few ideas and decided on a few things: Victorian Lilac for the font color for the names, a simple, elegant design, and a simple rose drawing. I think Beau did an excellent job executing all of these requests.

We just received the invite the other day, and it look amazing in person. We did not do the printing so we don't have the specs, but it looks like she went with a felt weave texture for the paper. I love it!

Wedding Night - Elizabeth and Miles

Wedding pics are here! Doesn't it look stunning? I didn't get too many photos from the actual ceremony because I didn't want to turn my flash on, but you can still get a great idea of how beautiful it was. Both the wedding and reception were held at Latrobe's in the French Quarter in New Orleans. It felt just like a movie - Beau and I were practically running to the ceremony through the French Quarter in suits, making it there just in time!

After the ceremony, we all joined in, waving our handkerchiefs, for a 2nd line around the quarter while the reception was being set up. Have you ever been in one? They're SO MUCH fun. Speaking of the reception...talk about well done! The food, drinks, band, and location were all topnotch. (I even had to undo my top button!)

The last picture (my favorite) that you see is from when the bride and groom were leaving the reception on their way to the honeymoon. We all formed a aisle for them to walk through and held sparklers out as they passed. If you've never seen this, you're missing out. It created such a magical and special exit for the new couple.

Rehearsal Dinner - Elizabeth and Miles Wedding

How beautiful? These are the pictures from Elizabeth and Miles' Rehearsal Dinner. It was held at the elegant Calcasieu Room, located at 930 Tchoupitoulas St. in New Orleans. From the second we walked in, we were greeted by the smiling faces of Elizabeth's and Miles' families...and cocktails (exactly what I needed after a 1.5 hour drive into New Orleans). You can see the menu directly above, so I need not mention how delicious the food was. Best part - we were at the "cool table"!...at least I think so. We got to sit with a few of the bridesmaids who are also friends of ours, as well as a few friends Beau know from Lake Charles. We laughed and told embarassing/funny stories. #sometimesitalktoomuch

Food, cocktails, and good company. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I want this to be about the wedding and not the Calcasieu (cal-cuh-shew) Room, but I do have to take a second to give them props. The room, service, and food were all first class. Well done!

Wedding Paper - Elizabeth and Miles

Do you remember these Save the Dates? Well this weekend, Elizabeth and Miles finally tied the knot! We had the honor of designing almost all of the paper for the wedding: save the dates, invitations, RSVP cards, etc., etc. This post is about all that said paper!

The three pictures directly above are from the rehearsal dinner invitation. The envelope liner (the pigs) is one of my favorite parts. They're becoming more and more popular, and they're a great way to add personality to your stationary or invites. We'll be posting tomorrow about the rehearsal dinner, but just know for now that it was spectacular. Really, "spectacular" is applicable for the whole wedding. I was so proud of Beau - everyone loved the wedding paper design!

And here you have everything else. What do you think?! Tasteful, formal, elegant, and wonderful. I'm running out of adjective to use for this wedding, and I think the paper products reflect the overall theme perfectly. I wish I could take more credit for the designs, but I cannot - this was 100% Beau's creative genius (while channeling Elizabeth's specifications). Speaking of the bride - we couldn't have asked for a better client. If you're reading this and know Elizabeth, you'll know what I'm talking about, but her decisiveness is almost intoxicating. I want to be just like her...unfortunately, I still take nine minutes to choose a toothbrush! The point is, she knew exactly what she wanted, and Beau just made it come to life.

We love both Elizabeth and Miles so much, and we're so happy we were able to design her wedding paper. We love you - CHEERS!

Custom Invite - Bridal Shower (Elizabeth and Miles)

Yet another custom invite from The Mended Nest! I have to say, it has been such a pleasure working with Elizabeth for all of her wedding stationary. In total we'll be working on the save the date, rehearsal dinner invite, shower invite, and the actual wedding Invitation. This, the shower invite, is the most recent project we've tackled. We love it, but more importantly, Elizabeth loves it. This is her custom invite, and Beau and I were simple there to execute it for her.

Arrangements for Days

 

This weekend, Beau and I were quite busy; we spent a majority of our weekend working on freelance graphic design projects and a few Mended Furniture pieces. However, we did take Saturday off from all of the craziness, and headed down to Covington, LA to attend one of my oldest and best friend, Amanda's wedding. Held at Vintage Court, the wedding was absolutely stunning. Amanda is an old family friend, so I had several aunts, uncles, cousins, and (of course) MawMaw there - as well as my immediate family. This was the first time in a while that we all got together so it was very appropriate that we spent the night dancing, cutting up, and having a blast! 

Well, let me just say - the next morning, I was almost wishing I hadn't had that last glass of wine...and then gone out to The Tap Room after the reception. However, with an extra hour of sleep (thanks to daylight savings), a delicious (and typically chic) omelet brunch complete with chilled, crisp mimosas, and a beautiful Sunday morning, I was somehow persuaded to get out of bed and enjoy the day. I loved it because Jeri's house was FILLED with flower arrangements from the wedding. Last minute, my parents had to go help break down everything, and somehow they got stuck with those. I mean, we had flowers for days. It was pretty funny, and I kind of loved it!
